1. What waiters see Every. Single. Time… they deliver your food.
Meg & I love food to an insane degree. That’s beyond obvious, right? I mean, we left our jobs to travel for a year solely so we could eat everything we could find…
We’re now taking that passion to the next level and starting a newsletter (BellyHustle.com) celebrating everyone who travels to find good food and make inappropriate noises when they eat.
Sound like you?
If so, BellyHustle will be a newsletter chock full of insanely interesting food stories from around the web, strange food facts, unique foodie deals for subscribers, plus a few extra nuggets of delicious goodness. Click here to sign up for a weekly BellyHustle email or sign up in the sidebar on the right. Otherwise, see if the rest of these 21 situations seem familiar…
2. When in a foreign country and you’re waiter starts speaking in English, but you order back in their native language.
3. When someone writes a scathing review of your favorite restaurant.
4. When you try to go to that cool Florentine gelataria, but just ate a primi & a secondi for dinner.
5. When people point out that you only mention food when talking about the places you’ve been
6. What you daydream about when you see a screaming toddler running up and down the aisles of a restaurant.
7. When you eat luke warm chicken from a Bangkok food stand & immediately feel your body rejecting it.
8. When you decide to go back to the gym after a long bit of traveling and eating (mostly eating)
9. When you’re home and your friends tell you they’re really craving some fast food…
VS
…when you’re traveling and see an American fast food restaurant.
10. When you discover that one of your friends doesn’t like your favorite food
11. When you eat the last bite of dessert off your spouses plate…
12. When you try to guess how the ordering process works while in a foreign country.
13. When you still have to work after a big lunch
14. The first time you sit down at a restaurant in Thailand & realize how cheap it is.
Haha! This is amazing! I completely relate. When my husband and I travel, we plan our days around what and where we want to eat
Love it, Andrea!
It got to the point where we looked at our photos of famous cities and only saw plates of food… We totally missed pictures of some of the most famous stuff!
So glad you can relate! There are so many of us food obsessed travelers that i’m hoping our newsletter will provide real value. Happy eating!
The Departed GIF kills me.
But yes, I’ll take every baked good on offer in whatever place I’m in, please.
The departed gif is one of my favorites too, Erin! Mostly because I actually once found bacon that was so tasty at a cafe in San Francisco that when I dropped it on the street… I picked it up and ate it.
A woman walking by just looked at me and said: “I would have done the same damn thing.”
That’s seriously one of the BEST collection one of gifs I’ve EVER SEEN!! I’m so happy right now.
High praise, Allie!
I’m looking to do a second post… so i’m looking for some great suggestions. I’m pretty sure you and Jim must have a food obsessed trait or three:)
hahhaah love and relate to EVERY single one of these. But there is a soft spot in my heart for number 5
Yeah… I hear that one a lot too. Who doesn’t think food is the best part of any place you visit!?!?!?!
I am OBSESSED with this! Somebody out there gets me!
Thanks, Anne! We do get you!!!
Us food-obsessives have to stick together… plus, you always get the best tips on restaurants and meals from other people like ourselves. Am I right?
Right you are, Tony! Can’t tell you how many of my best food recommendations while traveling came from other travelers on Twitter!
I LOVED THIS POST AND WILL BE WAITING FOR MY FIRST BELLYHUSTLE NEWSLETTER. Fantastic idea and we really do love food and travel. What a combination.
You know you’re obsessed with food when you write in all caps about it
It’s the only reason to travel most times, right? Thanks for signing up!
This is hilarious!! I love it, I couldn’t stop laughing! Thanks for sharing!
So glad you loved it, Laura! Thanks for signing up for the newsletter. I’ll be looking for input on how to improve it, so don’t be shy about what you’re looking for and how it can be improved.
PS… I can’t believe this is going to be the first year you haven’t visited another country since 2007! That’s a great streak, especially since Australia is a bit far from most places.
Where do you think those itchy feet will take you next?
And you just need to take a photo of the food before anyone can start eating.
That is a given, Pamela!
My favorite are when a bunch of travel bloggers/food lovers get together and you get a picture of the group taking pictures of their food. There is almost one person ready to eat who does NOT look happy
