A joint effort this week as we team up to highlight some of our favorite travel articles from around the web. We read everything we can find so you only have to read the best of the rest!
Meg’s Links of the Week
- Our goal for our RTW trip is to be “Day Baggers”…Does anyone have any recommendations on great packs?
- I really hope my karaoke OBSESSED husband does not read Adventurous Kate’s article, or else we will be on the plane to Saigon tomorrow (Tony’s note: Read it. Loved it. We’re going!).
- Brooke reminded me that it might be time to wipe the dust off of the Spanish Rosseta Stone box on our bookshelf and aprender español for our Santiago adventure!
- With my job as a travelling consultant, I only see Tony on the weekends. During our trip next year, we will be with each other NONSTOP. Jillian provides great insight on how travelling with your spouse is a true test of the relationship (the good, the bad and the ugly) and can be the experience of a lifetime.
- Due to the recent events in Japan, my concerned mother-in-law sent this informative article to me the other day. In honor of all the mothers out there, here’s some valuable advice about how to prepare for earthquake prone regions during your travels.
Tony’s Links of the Week
- An article on LifeReboot by Shaun that probably hits home for a lot of you… how to get out of job jail? Also, I only need the thinnest of excuses to quote Office Space: “So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that’s on the worst day of my life.” — Peter Gibbons, Office Space
- We went to Key West late in 2010 and thought it was just: “eh, alright.” So why do I link to this post? For two reasons: One, because it is one of the few places I have seen a travel blogger write about where Meg and I have already visited and two, because if you find the Pina Colada lady on the boardwalk during sunset… you MUST get one. They are ridiculously delicious (try saying that after having a few).
- How can you hack travel? Learn from those who go before you, prepare, and check out this article from foxnomad.com.
- Congratulations Johnny Vagabond… One year on the road and still going strong!
- Bad things happen to good travellers… a list of six travelling disasters and how you can try to deal with them.

Hahaha, thanks for the mention! I want a karaoke-obsessed husband!! (Do I?)
As for packs, I’m very, very happy with my 40l REI Venturi.
Thanks for the advice Kate! We have had great luck with REI in the past and will be sure to hit up the store before our trip!
Thanks for including me in your links roundup You better work on that Spanish 😉
