At the end of this week, Tony plans on notifying work of his decision to leave his job to travel the world. I can only imagine the anxiety that he must be feeling leading up to this discussion with his employer and I wish him the best of luck. It’s always tough to leave people, places, and things behind when you move on to a new chapter of your life, but we get closer and closer to our departure date with no regrets. We believe that this experience will be an extraordinary opportunity for us and are willing to make sacrifices for the reward of seeing and learning new global cultures. Here are some things we look forward to:
- I just saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 3D IMAX yesterday (AMAZING), so I loved reading about Adventurous Kate’s journey to Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station in London. I’m very jealous and I also LOVE the man from the Information Desk – Hilarious!
- Tony always teases me for being the biggest baby when I am sick. I can only imagine how it must feel being sick in a foreign country. Hopefully, I will be strong and optimistic like Rob next year when I am feeling under the weather on the road. Feel better Rob!
- Need an idea on where to travel next? Nomadic Matt has you covered… I might have to add Queenstown to our list – Stunning!
- I always love reading about RTW beauty and fashion from fellow travel bloggers, such as MJ. After all, I need as much advice as I can get on how to look good for the hubby while living out of a small backpack!
- Seeing how I married a Sci-Fi geek, I am sure a visit to Jordan to see the Star Trek Theme Park is in my future.
- When I am travelling for work, I always have to call Tony and tell him I love him before my flight takes off. What are your travel superstitions?
- I live in Miami so I can only imagine how hot Nora must be in her travel vest for the No Baggage Challenge… And she’s right: There really are NO summer clothes for women with practical pockets! Hmmm, I sense a business opportunity!
- It really does stink when people you come across on the road contibute to your bad experiences with a travel destination. This visit to Honduras sounds like the trip from hell (especially the bus ride)!
- I cannot wait to travel to Santiago in January, where I will be able to get some real practice speaking Spanish. If you want to learn a language, Tim offers up some great advice.
- Next year, I plan to be like Adam and keep an open mind with global cuisine and be up for trying anything. Anthony Bourdain would be very proud of Adam for trying Fertilized Duck Embryo in Vietnam… Yum!
About Meg
Exhausted from traveling every week as a Business Management Consultant early in my career, I took a year off in 2012 to travel at my own pace. I am a high-energy girl that loves being active, eating food, drinking wine, and exploring the world with my partner-in-crime (and husband), Tony! I now reside in Portland, Oregon and continue to write about travel, food, wine, and the awesome adventures we have in the Pacific NW!
Thanks for the inclusion.
Tony will be bouncing around the inside of his car (if he commutes to work by driving) once he finally does it, I was!
Lets hope so! He’s nervous now but I think he will be excited to be one step closer to our trip afterwards… Either way, I will be waiting for him at home with a drink in hand!
Thanks for the mention! Yes, Florida was hot, hot, hot! I hear through the grapevine that Scottevest is designing clothes for women with pockets that is both practical and stylish. Here’s hoping!
That would be amazing! I will be sure to keep an eye out for their new women’s apparel. Thanks for sharing and good luck!
