Every week, Tony and I read about all the great things that come with backpacking the world. However, it’s refreshing to read Nomadic Matt’s article on the things he hates about backpacking. Having this knowledge really helps me to set my expectations (the good and the bad) for next year…
… And now back to the positive! Here are the best of the rest:
- Before Tony and I leave Boston for a year to go on our RTW trip, we will have to hit up all the great spots the city has to offer that we will certainly miss while on the road. After all, it’s nice to be a tourist in your own town for a change.
- I am HORRIBLE at taking good, artistic photos. This is something that I really want to get better at while travelling the world. Thankfully, Jason offers up some great tips on how to take good pictures.
- Reading about all the nice people on the road makes me that much more excited to start our journey. Have you experienced any random acts of kindness during your travels? Please share!
- Even though Tony and I will be travelling together next year, it will be important for us to branch out and make some friends on the road… Adventurous Kate shows us how!
- Not gonna lie, these are some places I might be avoiding next year.
- This student has tongue surgery in order to speak Korean. That is DEDICATION. Not sure if I will go to those extremes when we travel to South America and will attempt to speak Spanish!
- Next year our home away from home will probably be affordable hostels around the globe. What should we look for when “hostel shopping”? Jane shares her tips.
- … What are my requirements for a hostel? One without this guy!
About Meg
Exhausted from traveling every week as a Business Management Consultant early in my career, I took a year off in 2012 to travel at my own pace. I am a high-energy girl that loves being active, eating food, drinking wine, and exploring the world with my partner-in-crime (and husband), Tony! I now reside in Portland, Oregon and continue to write about travel, food, wine, and the awesome adventures we have in the Pacific NW!
There’s something about leaving your hometown that makes you want to experience it properly one last time. I’m moving in less than a month and I’ve been spending so much time downtown trying to soak it all in!
Completely agree. We always take our hometowns for granted until it comes time to leave them! Where are you moving to? I just visited your blog and loved it!!
